One degree programme with two degrees

For more than 40 years, the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and the Université François Rabelais in Tours have enjoyed a close partnership. Part of this cooperation is the Integrated History Course (ISG).
The special feature of the ISG is that graduates of the course receive two degrees - one German and one French. Thus the ISG opens up a wide range of opportunities for its graduates. University graduates with an international double degree usually have better chances of employment than their competitors with a national degree. Moreover, a double degree also increases the chances of a higher entry position and a higher starting salary.
Another increasingly important aspect is intercultural competence. The integrated degree program of the Universities of Bochum and Tours prepares graduates for these requirements through its intercultural perspective and offers students the chance to broaden their cultural and intellectual horizons.
As a B.A. degree course, the ISG has already proven its worth for many years. It is therefore particularly gratifying that the range of courses offered by the Institute of History has been expanded since the winter semester 2011/12 to include the integrated M.A. program.
The detailed page on the ISG is currently being revised. Until then, further information can be obtained via the ISG's facebook page and from Dr. Jens Lieven, Jens.Lieven@ruhr-uni-bochum.de, GA 4/41, Tel. 24655.
